K-96 June Jaunt Activities: Family-Oriented

{This is part 5 of a 9 part series of the activities you can enjoy during the K-96 June Jaunt.}

Now that you've been introduced to all of our fine communities along K-96, we're sure you're ready to begin planning your trip to get you from point A to point B. If you're not sure how to best plan your route for the K-96 June Jaunt, over the next few weeks you can find the events here by categories of interest. These categories will be: Arts, Antiques, Crafts, Cuisine, Family, History, Music, Rural Activities, and Shopping. Use these categories as a guide to find the best activities suited to your interests. Or for a more adventurous traveler feel free to jaunt wherever the wind blows come June 1-3. Our writer for this blog falls more into the first category of planning, but we welcome all types.

We know that family vacations are an important part of your life, so we want to encourage you to bring the kids along during the K-96 June Jaunt. Each community has some events that the kids will love to participate in!

Dighton's Family Events:

• Free Hay Rides - All Day on June 1-3 at Long Street
• Family Play Day from 12-4 PM on June 1 at 1st & James
• Imaginizza (Invent a Pizza Contest)  from 10-2 on June 2 at 132 E. Long
• Kids' Activities - All Day on June 2 at 1st & James
• Outdoor Cinema at 6:30 PM on June 1 at 1st & James

Ellinwood's Family Events:

• Movie in the Park at Dusk on June 1 at 2nd & Main
• Children's Arts & Crafts Workshop during the Outdoor Market from 8AM-5PM on June 2 at K-96 & Main Street

Great Bend's Family Events:

• Children's Craft Hour from 1-2 PM on June 1 at 1409 Williams
• Chalk Art for Young Children from 1- 4 PM on June 1 at 1400 Main, All Day on June 2
• Family Swim Night from 7-9 PM on June 1 at 2303 Main
• Nextech ZooFest from 11-2 on June 2 at 2200 Main
• Human "E" Motion Event from 7AM-2PM on June 2 at 514 Cleveland
• Special Needs Fishing Derby from 9-11AM on June 2 at 17th & McKinley - great event for kids of all ages with special needs

Leoti's Family Events:

• Wichita County Arts Alliance Sidewalk Chalk Contest from 3-6 PM on June 1, 10-2 on June 2 at 206 S. 4th, Wichita County Courthouse Square
• Friday Flicks Karaoke at City Hall at 8:30 PM on June 1 at 406 S. 4th
• Friday Flicks Movie at City Hall: "Wizard of Oz" at 9 PM on June 1 at 406 S. 4th

Ness City's Family Events:

• Water Activities and Games from 2-4 PM on June 2, East of 211 E. Sycamore
• Kansas Largest Water Balloon Fight at 4:30 PM on June 2, East of 211 E. Sycamore

Scott City's Family Events:

• Movie in the Park at Dusk on June 1 at the 1200 Block of Main
• For the Young and Young-at-Heart Games in the Park from 10-12 on June 2 at the 1200 Block of Main

Tribune's Family Events:

• Family Movie at 8 PM on June 1 at 415 Broadway, 8 PM on June 3
• Farm Critters Petting Zoo from 11AM-5PM on June 2 at 1001 Ingalls
• Free Swim from 2-6 PM on June 2 at 200 Zenaide
• Full Moon in June at 8 PM on June 2 at 1 block N of K-96 on Q Rd. - 2K Family Run/Walk
• Free Family Movie at the Park at 9 PM on June 2 at 1001 Ingalls
